Sharing a few things that I have painted for my young children over the years.

As a starting point, I always like to be inspired by them and their interests.
I ask them what they would like and I find that they often come up with the most amazing ideas and combine things together that I wouldn't have considered myself.

Here are a few examples. The two different colours in this room (below), were inspired by my daughter who said:- 'can we each have our own colours?' It seemed a nice way to separate their space and allow their own personalities to shine.

XXXThis fence (below), came about because I was tired of looking at the brown fence. I asked them what colour they wanted and one of my daughter's friends suggested a rainbow fence. It's usually a case of 'yes- why not?!'

I always like to display their artwork on the walls and often include the work of grown up artists too, to inspire them (below).

I like to have things stored at a level that they can reach themselves so they can choose their games, books or find some paint, crayons and paper when they want to use them.

It's always been a lot of fun to create play house cafes or kitchen cafes (below), where they can serve drinks and ice creams!

I always wanted a treehouse myself but we had a small garden so I enlisted the help of a carpenter and had this little platform tree area made. At one point, it had a slide on it too. I have plenty of photos of the kids getting taller inside this treehouse over the years and it will soon need to be replaced by a 'hideaway den' or something similar.

I like to use lots of bright colours and get them involved. My daughter helped to paint the pink door (below), in this little playhouse. It fitted perfectly in the side return of our flat.

For my little boy's room, I wanted to create a bit of a space theme, so I painted the blind, the walls, and the furniture. He likes to combine different ideas so currently it is Space/ Minecraft but it will all be transforming again, sometime soon, as his interests grow.

I like to use lots of rounded edges for the furniture in children's rooms with handles on furniture that the children can easily use (below).
